McFadden homers in Titans win over Kalamazoo Valley CC

Jacob McFadden had a feeling he was going to see a curveball in the seventh inning and he didn't miss it, crushing a three-run home run to give Eastern Florida State College an 8-3 win over Kalamazoo Valley Community College Sunday evening at Bruce Bochy Field.

With the game tied 3-3, leadoff hitter Sebastian Rivera walked and Sammy Duran singled setting up the at-bat. McFadden hit the 2-2 curveball over the left field fence for his fifth home run of the season to give the Titans a 6-3 lead. Later in the inning Paul Castillo hit an RBI triple and Jasson Corniel added an RBI single as the Titans scored five times in the seventh inning.

"I am just trying to keep the same swing every day and if I get lucky like today, I hit one out," McFadden said.

The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning behind Jeff Korte's RBI double. Korte drove in another run in the fifth inning on a single.

Jack Corbell got his first start of the season and pitched five solid innings, allowing one unearned run, striking out four hitters.

Kalamazoo Valley scored one run and had the bases loaded when Eddie Escribano entered the game with nobody out. Escribano got out of the jam allowing just one run. He was the first of four relievers to pitch scoreless innings to finish the game as JP Williams, Tanner Lavanture and Scarlen Perez struck out seven of the nine hitters they faced.

Eastern Florida State College will be back at Bruce Bochy Field Tuesday evening, hosting Indian River State College in a Southern Conference game that will be televised live on WEFS-TV and online at efsctitans.com/webcast
