Romero strikes out 11 in Titans loss

Tommy Romero struck out 11 Miami Dade hitters Friday night but the Sharks picked up the 1-0 win Friday night at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans fell to 13-6 overall and 2-2 in the Southern Conference with the loss.

Romero struck out 11 for the fourth straight game and is among the leaders in NJCAA Division I with 57 strikeouts on the season.

But Miami Dade scored the lone run of the game in the fifth inning as leadoff hitter Jack Urbaez hit a single and scored with two outs in the inning.

The Titans were shut out for the first time this season as three pitchers held a Titans offense that averages eight runs per game to seven hits, all singles on a windy evening in Melbourne.

Sebastian Rivera led the offense with two hits in the game.

The Titans will be back at Bruce Bochy Field Sunday when they host Kalamazoo Valley Community College at 5 p.m. Admission is free.
