Titans baseball team wins third straight, defeats CCBC Catonsville

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team won its third straight game Friday afternoon, defeating CCBC Catonsville 9-2 at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans, who improved to 10-4 on the season, once again used a combination of strong pitching and timely hitting to pick up the win.

And it started up top as the duo of Sebastian Rivera and Ian Acevedo combined to go 7-for-8 in the game, scoring five of the team's nine runs.

"I have been hitting the ball well. I have been waiting for this opportunity, to play the game I love and just lucky I am able to do it and lucky to do it with this team," said Acevedo, who went 4-for-5 in the game including his team-leading third triple.

The duo got things started fast, both hitting sharp singles in the first inning as the Titans would end up scoring twice on Dylan Owens' two-run single.

CCBC Catonsville would tie it up in the third inning with four straight two-out hits against Titans starter Gabriel Rodriguez.

That would be the only two runs the Titans would allow as Rodriguez picked up his fourth win of the season. The bullpen kept the Cardinals off the board the final three innings to lock up the win.

Meanwhile the Titans would break the tie in the fifth inning, scoring four times as Jacob McFadden had an RBI single and would later score on a wild pitch and Jasson Corniel ripped an RBI double in the Titans big inning.

The Titans are 7-2 in the past nine games and will host Lake Sumter College at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The Titans came back from an 8-1 deficit to beat Lake Sumter 13-8 on Feb. 18.
