Baseball team cruises once again, defeating College of Central Florida

Once again, the Eastern Florida State College baseball team got things going early, defeating the College of Central Florida 20-6 in seven innings Saturday afternoon.

The Titans, who improved to 7-2, got a strong start from Chandellor Benton who gave up two runs in six innings with eight strikeouts for the win.

While Benton was holding Central Florida in check, the offense exploded for four runs in the second inning and scored at least two runs in every inning except for the first. The team finished with 25 hits led by Elian Merejo's five-hit game. Ian Acevedo finished with four hits and Sebastian Rivera and Samy Duran each had three hits. Acevedo drove in four runs while Merejo and Jasson Corniel each drove in three. Jacob McFadden hit his second home run of the season.

The Titans will be back at Bruce Bochy Field Wednesday night, hosting Daytona State College at 4 p.m. Eastern Florida State College defeated Daytona State 21-2 in seven innings last week.
