Titans Fall 5-4 at Palm Beach; Teams Meet Again on Wednesday

Eastern Florida's baseball team dropped a 5-4 decision to Palm Beach State in Lake Worth on Tuesday.

 

The defeat dropped Eastern Florida to 16-10 in the FCSAA Southern Conference, cutting its first place lead over second-place Broward College (16-11) to a half-game.

 

Broward beat Miami Dade (15-11) 4-0 on Tuesday, ending the Sharks seven-game winning streak.  Broward and Miami Dade and meet again on Wednesday. Miami Dade visits Eastern Florida at 5 p.m. Thursday to close the regular season.

 

The five conference teams play each other seven times to break any ties in the final standings. The Titans are 2-4 against Palm Beach; 3-4 against Broward and 4-2 against Miami Dade. They are 7-0 against last-place Indian River State.

 

Eastern Florida hosts Palm Beach at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Bruce Bochy Field in a game to be televised live on WEFS-TV and streamed at www.efsctitans.com

 

Palm Beach improved to 15-12 in the conference, which rewards its top two finishers with berths in the NJCAA Gulf District/FCSAA Tournament in Lakeland in May.

 

The third-place finisher faces a play-in game.

 

The Titans outhit Palm Beach 10 to 5 on Tuesday and committed one error to three for the Panthers. Matt Meyer took the loss for the Titans.

 

The loss was the second straight in conference for the Titans, who fell 5-4 at Miami Dade on Friday.
