Big Week for Titan Baseball
The FCSAA Southern Conference baseball race has come down to the final week with three teams chasing first-place Eastern Florida.
The Titans begin the week with a 16-9 conference record. Miami Dade is second at 15-10, Broward College third at 15-11 and Palm Beach State fourth at 14-12.
The Titans visit Palm Beach in Lake Worth at 5 p.m. Tuesday and host the Panthers at 5 p.m. Wednesday in a game to be televised live on WEFS-TV and streamed at www.efsctitans.com
Admission is free to Titan home games at Bruce Bochy Field.
Eastern Florida concludes the regular season by hosting Miami Dade at 5 p.m. Thursday in a make up for last Saturday's postponement.
Meanwhile Miami Dade and Broward play a home-and-home series on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The five conference teams play each other seven times to break any ties in the final standings. The Titans are 2-3 against Palm Beach; 3-4 against Broward and 4-2 against Miami Dade. They are 7-0 against last-place Indian River State.
The top two conference finishers advance to the May 15-20 NJCAA Division I Gulf District/FCSAA Tournament at Florida Southern College's Henley Field in Lakeland. The third-place finisher plays a play-in game against the Mid-Florida conference third-place finisher at a neutral site on May 2.
Eastern Florida won a play-in game in 2014 but lost one in 2015 after falling to Palm Beach State in the conference championship game and dropping to third behind Broward.
