Titans Outslug Indian River

Eastern Florida's baseball team banged out 18 hits to score a 14-12 FCSAA Southern Conference victory over host Indian River State on Tuesday.

 

The Titans improved to 14-8 to maintain first place in the conference. Fifth-place Indian River dropped to 5-19.

 

Miami Dade College is second in the conference at 14-9.

 

The Titans are 29-13 overall. Indian River is 10-27.

 

Matt Meyer was the winning pitcher for the Titans who allowed 15 hits. Tim Luth got the save.

 

John Capra went 3-for-6 for the Titans with two runs batted in. Manny Rodriguez was 2-for-6 with one RBI. Vinny Capra was 3-for-6; Angel Velez 1-f0r-1 with two RBI; Reuben Garcia 2-for-5; A.J. Puigcerver 2-for-5 with an RBI and Jay Cuiro 2-for-6 with an RBI.

 

The teams meet again twice on Wednesday, completing a suspended game at 4 p.m. and playing the scheduled game at 6, live on WEFS-TV and at www.efsctitans.com. The Titans then travel to Kendall for a 3 p.m. Friday showdown with Miami Dade and then host the Sharks at 1 p.m. Saturday.

 

The Titans close the regular season by visiting Palm Beach State on April 19 and hosting the Panthers on April 20.

 

The conference's top two finishers qualify for the NJCAA Gulf District/FCSAA Tournament in Lakeland in May while the third-place finishers plays a play-in game.
