Titans Beat Indian River as Walsh Whiffs 10

A.J. Puigcerver drove in two runs with two doubles and Jake Walsh struck out 10 batters in seven innings as Eastern Florida scored an 8-2 victory on Tuesday at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans fell behind 2-0 in the first inning but shut the Pioneers down the rest of the way to improve to 2-2 in the FCSAA Southern Conference and 13-5 overall.

Indian River fell to 0-4 and 5-12.

The teams meet again on Wednesday in Fort Pierce to complete an earlier game suspended by rain and play a scheduled game.

The Titans then travel to Kendall for a two-game conference set with Miami Dade College on Friday and Saturday.

Eastern Florida scored twice in the second inning on Tuesday on Puigcerver's first two-run double and put the game away with four runs in the seventh, the big blow being Puigcerver's second double.

Chase Evans pitched the eighth and ninth for the Titans, striking out three.

"He did a good job," head coach Jeff Tam said of Walsh. "We've got a lot of tough games coming up. We need to execute better."

Walsh credited his breaking ball.

"It was pretty effective for me," he said.
