Basketball players Cortijo, Kulackovska named Orlando Health Athletes of Week

A pair of Eastern Florida State College basketball players helped their teams to a couple victories last week and are the Orlando Health Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 14.

Men's basketball player Carlos Cortijo and women's basketball player Kristiana Kulackovska were both named for the first time this season.

Kulackovska continued to play well for the Titans this season, averaging 7.5 points, four rebounds and two assists along with 2.5 steals and 2.5 blocks this week. The sophomore from Saldus, Latvia has scored at least 10 points in 10 games this season and is averaging 9.9 points and six rebounds this season.

Cortijo helped the men's team to a 2-0 week with two good games as the guard averaged eight points, 8.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds. The freshman from Puerto Rico is averaging 9.7 points and 4.8 assists this season for the Titans.

The basketball teams will host Indian River State College on Wednesday night at Titan Field House. The women's game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. with the men's game scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission to games at Titan Field House are free.
