Achermann-Stanfield, Almanza named Orlando Health Athletes of the Week

A pair of Eastern Florida State College soccer players helped their teams advance in the postseason last week and are the Orlando Health Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 29.

Men's soccer player Luc Achermann-Stanfield and women's soccer player Nancy Almanza each helped their teams to the Southeast District Tournament.

Achermann-Stanfield helped the Titans advance to the Southeast District Final with a goal and four assists Saturday against Southern Union State College. The freshman midfielder from London, England also had an assist in the team's win earlier in the week.

For the season, Achermann-Stanfield has 11 assists and a goal in 13 games. The midfielder has started eight games.

Almanza scored the first goal of the game as the women's soccer team defeated Daytona State College 3-0 to win the Region 8 Championship and advance to the Southeast District Tournament.

Almanza has played in 12 games this season and has six goals and six assists.

The men's soccer team will travel to Virginia to play Richard Bland on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Southeast District final.

The women's soccer team will play Gordon State Friday in the Southeast District semifinals with the final on Saturday in Milledgeville, Georgia.

The winners of each Southeast District Tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament beginning Nov. 12 in Wichita, Kansas.
