Big week ahead for soccer teams

The Eastern Florida State College soccer teams can close in on conference championships with big weeks.

The women's soccer team enters the week 5-0 in the Region 8 Conference and is two games ahead of Daytona State College with three games remaining and a matchup looming Wednesday night. The Titans won the first matchup 3-0 at Orlando Health Stadium with all three goals coming in the second half.

Daytona State College is 3-2 in the conference and has won the past two games coming into the matchup. The game will begin at 7 p.m. and be broadcast on WDSC-TV.

The women's soccer team will wrap up the regular season with road games against Polk State College Oct. 16 and then at ASA Miami on Oct. 20.

The men's soccer team is 3-0 in the Region 8 Conference and are tied with Broward College atop the standings. The teams will meet Friday night at Broward College in the first meeting of the season. Last season the two teams played three 1-0 games with the Titans winning at Broward in the conference championship to advance to the regional tournament.

Friday night's game at Broward College will kick off at 6 p.m.

The women's volleyball team will wrap up the conference season this week with a road game at No. 20 Daytona State College Tuesday night before hosting No. 13 College of Central Florida on Thursday night in the final home match of the season. Tuesday's match will be shown on DSC-TV at 7 p.m. and then Thursday's match will start at 7 p.m. at Titan Field House and admission is free.

The women's golf team is in action this week, traveling to Nova Southeastern University for the Shark Invitational.

The men and women's tennis teams will travel to Winter Park this weekend for the CL Varner Memorial Invitational this weekend.
