26 student-athletes named to NJCAA All-Academic teams

Eastern Florida State College student-athletes had one of their best years in the classroom in school history as 26 were named to NJCAA All-Academic teams on Tuesday.

The Titans had eight student-athletes made the first team. Women's soccer players Beatrice Gards, Emily Bodi and Morgan Zuhlke, women's tennis players Valeria Arevalo and Vasavi Ganesan as well as baseball player Borris Villa, women's volleyball player Elisa Pauzer and women's golfer Gianna Piscitelli all achieved a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA throughout the academic year.

Eight more players were named to the second team as softball players Emily Bartlett, Nikki Pennington and Taylor Ignacio as well as women's basketball players Alana Pinder and Angeni Worley and volleyball players Emily Mullen and Erin Arbour as well as women's soccer player Aida Illas all finished with cumulative GPA's between 3.80 and 3.99.

10 student-athletes were named to the third team of the NJCAA All-Academic Team Tuesday. Men's soccer players Marc Grifell and Uziel Hernandez, men's basketball player Noah Louis, women's basketball players Jacquelyn LeVay and Sierra Votaw as well as men's golfer Ben Ramos, women's golfer Kacey Walker, men's tennis player Nils Michel, women's soccer player Morgan Miller and volleyball player Renae Watson had GPA's between 3.60 and 3.79 this past year.

The 26 ties the mark set in the 2016-17 season and the eight players with a perfect 4.0 GPA is the best in the past five seasons.

Overall an NJCAA record 6,656 participants earned a spot on one of the three NJCAA All-Academic teams. This year's record eclipsed the previous mark of 6,329 set in the 2017-18 academic year.
