Baseball, softball teams begin week in first place

The Eastern Florida State College baseball and softball teams are in first place in the Southern Conference heading into a big week of games.

The softball team is 6-0 in the conference and host Indian River State College Wednesday in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. The Titans won the first meeting 7-3 in the round robin tournament, scoring six runs in the ninth inning to pull out the win.

The Titans will then travel to Broward College on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The Titans won the first meeting 7-2 in the round robin event.

The baseball team begins the week 8-4 and in first place in the conference. The Titans will open a series with Miami Dade on Wednesday at Miami Dade at 3 p.m. Eastern Florida State College is 2-1 this season against the Sharks with two of the games going to extra innings.

Miami Dade is 6-6 in the Southern Conference but was swept by Palm Beach State last weekend. 

The Titans have won each of the first four series in the conference season and lead Palm Beach State by one game.
