Basketball teams host doubleheader on Wednesday

The Eastern Florida State College basketball teams will host a doubleheader on Wednesday night at Titan Field House.

The night of basketball tips off at 5:30 p.m. when the women's team plays St. Petersburg in a battle for second place in the Suncoast Conference.

The women's team is 11-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference and is looking to get even with St. Petersburg, who won the first meeting 82-73 in St. Petersburg.

The men's basketball team will take the court at 7:30 p.m. in a Mid-Florida Conference matchup with Florida State College at Jacksonville in a Mid-Florida Conference matchup. The Titans come into the game 17-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference while Florida State College at Jacksonville needs a win, coming in 5-15 on the season.

The Titans won the first matchup 74-49 on the road and has won two in a row in the conference.

Both coaching staffs will be wearing sneakers for the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative. The initiative was founded more than 25 years ago and many junior college schools are taking part in the event with intentions of raising awareness of the fight against cancer.

Admission to Titan Field House is free and both games will be shown live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
