Tennis teams will compete in Juan Varon Wildcat Invitational this weekend

The Eastern Florida State College tennis teams will be participating in The Juan Varon Wildcat Invitational this weekend at Daytona Beach's Florida Tennis Center.

The Titans are one of nine teams competing in the three-day tournament that has teams from NCAA Division I, Division II and junior college teams.

On the men's side, freshman Frederik Oervad will play Rollins' Guillermo Nicolas in the A bracket at 1:30 p.m. Sophomore Nils Michel has a bye in the first round of the B bracket and will play Rollins' Nicolo De Fraia at 4:30 p.m. Adriel Azucey will also have a bye in the C bracket and faces Stetson's Tim Gennes at 4:30 p.m.

In the D bracket, Fabricio Galvan will open against Embry-Riddle's Mickael Faucher at 1:30 p.m. Nicholas Mora has a bye in the first round of the E bracket and will play Stetson's Joshua Laka at 4:30 p.m. while Gonzalo Smulski will play FAMU's Rodney Sturgis in the F bracket at 1:30 p.m.

The tournament will begin with doubles matches and the men's team has Galvan and Azucey teaming up in the B bracket at noon against Embry-Riddle's Faucher and Bos. Smulski and Mora will also play at noon against Rollins' Gezer and Nicolas in the C bracket. In the A bracket, Michel and Oervad have a bye in the first round and will play later in the day.

On the women's side, sophomore Valeria Arevalo will open against Keiser's Emma Henrisken at 2:45 p.m. in the C bracket. Emma Othmer will play Stetson's Megan Horwits in the D bracket at 2:45 p.m. while Isabella Diaz plays FAMU's Karen Machisa in the E bracket and Zoe Hanson plays Keiser's Florencia Roncatti in the F bracket. 

In doubles, Shaeda Nickle and Arevalo will play in the B bracket against Rollins' Teresa Kaiser and Aleksandra Durzynski at noon while Othmer and Diaz will team up against Keiser University's Roncatti and Melanie Dveksler at noon in the C bracket.
