Soccer teams hit road for big games, basketball teams to host Titan Madness

As the fall season winds down, each game takes on a bit more importance.

For both the men's and women's soccer teams, the postseason picture will become a lot clearer this week.

The men's soccer team will play its final two games of the Region 8 Conference regular season as they travel to Broward College on Wednesday and then Daytona State College on Saturday. The Titans come into the week 2-2 in the conference and in third place. But Broward College is 2-0-1 and Daytona State is 2-1-1 meaning a big week could catapult them into the middle of the race for a title.

The women's soccer team is tied for first place in the Region 8 Conference with Broward College and heads to Broward Tuesday night. A win will put them in position to win another conference title.

The volleyball team hosts Daytona State College in a Mid-Florida Conference match on Tuesday night and then travels to the College of Central Florida on Thursday night. They wrap up the week with a couple of matches at Indian River State College on Saturday.

The men's golf team tees off Monday morning at Duran Golf Club for the National Preview against 11 of the top teams in junior college golf.

Basketball fans can get their first look at this year's teams on Wednesday night as they host the Titan Madness. The teams will compete in a skills competition, 3-point contest and slam dunk contest and begins at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

This weekend men's tennis player Frederik Oervad will be in Rome, Georgia playing in the ITA Cup against the best junior college players in the country. If he wins this weekend, he will advance to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Arizona in November.

The baseball team is also home on both Tuesday and Friday night this week, hosting Florida Tech in a scrimmage at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The softball team will travel to Jacksonville on Saturday and the women's golf team travels to Webber International for a golf tournament Sunday and Monday.

Admission to all sporting events on the Melbourne campus of Eastern Florida State College is free.
