Four Baseball Players Share Student-Athlete of Week Award

Baseball players Luis (Jay) Ciuro, Noah Dyals, Ian Lisle and Tim Luth are the Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes of the Week for the week ending April.

They are recognized for their efforts in the 8-7, 13-inning victory over Palm Beach State that gave the Titans their first outright berth in the NJCAA Gulf Coast/FCSAA Tournament under head coach Jeff Tam.

Relief pitcher Dyals and Luth combined to pitch seven innings of one-hit, scoreless baseball, recording four strikeouts each. Luth got the victory.

Lisle went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in, two which tied the game 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Ciuro, who caught all 13 innings, drove in the winning run.

Ciruo hails from Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico and attended Montverde Academy; Lisle from Palm Harbor, Florida and Dunedin High; Luth from Palm Harbor and Dunedin High; and Dyals from Tampa, Florida and Blake High.

The Titans finished second in the FCSAA Southern Conference and open tournament play against Santa Fe College at 7 p.m. May 15 at Lakeland's Henley Field.
